Information for Support at Home providers
Fed by Jed provides nutritious ready-made meals eligible for Support at Home funding for older Australians. If you are a Support at Home provider, this information is for you.
How to refer a Support at Home recipient to receive Fed by Jed meals
In each referral we require the below details to ensure fast and efficient setup of their account.
We require the participants:
First and Last name. Plus preferred name if different to first name
Address
Phone number
Email address - this can be the participant’s email, or if they don't have one of their own, a partner, child or a family friend. Email addresses are used to create an account for each customer. If no address is provided we can still create the account, however, the participant will not receive order reminders, confirmation of order, delivery notifications or important updates.
Purchase order number (if required)
Budget information (if required. However, please note we don't manage customers’ weekly budget, instead relying on the customer to order within their funding limits)
Next of kin contact details (if needed)
In addition to participant details, we will need to know where Support at Home funded invoices should be emailed for your organisation.
Note: If your organisation does not have a referral form, and you would like to utilise the Fed by Jed referral form, please download a copy here and fill out as required.
What happens once Fed by Jed receive the referral?
Step 1: Upon receipt of the referral, the Fed by Jed team will create a unique login profile setup to charge the participant their 30% contribution at the time of ordering. The remaining funded 70% will be invoiced to your finance department.
Step 2: Our team will email the participant their login details and a link to the online ordering system. You can view that here. From this point the customer can begin ordering meals.
Step 3: Our team will mail the participant a welcome pack. This includes a welcome letter, a copy of our menu, a calendar showing which coloured menu will be delivered each week, FAQ information and a printed copy of their login details for ease of reference.
Step 4: If requested, a team member can also call the participant, or their next of kin, to explain how to order meals with Fed by Jed and answer any questions they may have.
Step 5: Customers can order meals as required.
How the ordering process works
Four weeks of menus are always open to allow customers to order either for the upcoming week or to plan further ahead.
Orders must be placed by midnight Monday a week prior to delivery.
Orders can be made at any time online utilising the supplied login information via our online order form. If the customer requires help to place their order, they can call 0440 138 481 Mondays between 12pm-4pm.
Orders are delivered Monday and Tuesday every week. Delivery day depends on suburb. To see what day we deliver, please visit here. We deliver on public holidays. The only time we don't deliver is during our scheduled Christmas and Winter break. But we always give customers plenty of notice to allow them to plan ahead and order extra meals for the break period if required.
Meals are delivered frozen in a cooler bag. Each meal contains clear instructions for storage and heating.
On the day of delivery, each customer is sent a text message approximately 30 minutes prior to delivery time. If the customer is planning to be out on the delivery day, we recommend they leave an esky on their porch for us to place the meals in. Once delivery has been completed, a second text message is sent to let the customer know to collect their meals.
Why providers choose to recommend Fed by Jed
All meals are cooked to order. We do not cook in bulk and have meals stored for extended periods.
Meals are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients before being frozen to lock in the flavour.
Meals taste as good heated as the day they were cooked.
We have a colour-coded rotating menu featuring four unique menus. This allows customers to have diversity of meals week-to-week ensuring they are not limited by choice.
Our focus is on home-style cooking. We prioritise real food with meals designed to taste just like something customers would make for themselves. Our menu takes inspiration from a range of cuisines to ensure diversity of flavour.
Each week of the rotating menu features main meals spanning at least one roast, two seafood and two vegetarian options, as well as a variety of chicken, lamb, beef and pork dishes.
We offer soups, main meals and desserts in every menu
There’s no restrictive packages or lock in contracts. Participants can order what they want when they need it.
Plus, we are a family owned and operated local company. We live locally, cook locally and deliver locally. Our kitchen is based in Bannockburn - we have a shop front open Wednesday and Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm. You are welcome to come meet us, see what we do and try some meals.
